360 Degree Stage Production for SMF 2017
The festival experience is made up of many components. Most focus on just the lineup (which is important), but there’s also the venue, ease of entry and exit, restroom facilities, security, food and merchandise options, stage production, and more.
The SMF organizers have mentioned that the stage production for all three stages (Sunset, Eclipse, and Horizon) has been upgraded.
In particular, the Eclipse and Horizon stages will feature 360 degree production. Last year set the stage for this type of expansion. The Eclipse stage reached over the crowd in three directions, and the Horizon stage was like an open air megastructure.
I imagine visual production elements will be integrated towards the middle and back of these structures to hit the crowd from all angles. I’m all for upgraded stage production. For me, this is near the top of my list in terms of value that a festival can offer.
