Like many large EDM festivals, Groove Cruise tends to be an all year experience. From stalking social media channels for announcements, lineup reveals, and other details to keeping in touch with festie besties throughout the year, the #GCFAM keeps the energy going all year long.
That’s why official hotel announcements are so anticipated. It’s a chance to get the party started early and connect with other members of the #GCFAM before boarding the ship.
Hard Rock Hotel San Diego
For GCCABO 2016, the official hotel is the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego.
The Groove Cruise organizers have negotiated special rates for the #GCFAM, and you can book your stay by logging into your Whet Travel account and adding a room to your reservation.
The Hard Rock SD is located in the heart of downtown San Diego. The hotel is located in the midst of San Diego’s nightlife hotspots and just 10 minutes from the port where we’ll be boarding the Norwegian Sun.

Other Hotels in the Area
I’d love to connect with you guys at the Hard Rock SD before GCCABO this year, but I’ll be staying at another hotel since I have a free night certificate and free is right in my price range.
Shout out to the Chase/IHG credit card for the annual free night certificate. This is one of the most underrated credit cards in the game. If any of you are into credit card travel hacking, look into this card.
I’ll be at the admittedly less VIP Holiday Inn Express in downtown San Diego. Still convenient, not as cool, but if it’s got wifi and breakfast (with their signature cinnamon rolls), I’m good to go.
With that being said, if you’re looking for other good places stay in San Diego before or after GCCABO this year, I’ve got you covered.
Here are a few recommendations for your festival accommodation needs in San Diego:
I’m staying here on a free night certificate, but even if I wasn’t, this property has a lot of features that are appealing to me. Wi-fi, breakfast, and a free airport AND cruise port shuttle.
In my opinion, Hyatt properties tend to be nicer than average relative to competing chains. The Manchester Grand Hyatt and will satisfy your high-end hotel wishes.
Whether you’re trying to save money, stay in a more “local” area, or step up and rent a local mansion, AirBnB is my go-to recommendation. You can rent accommodation from local residents ranging from their couch to their entire place.
I’ve put together a little guide showing you how to use AirBnB for affordable stays and a more authentic experience.

Got any other recommendations? This will be my first time in San Diego, so if you have any more suggestions, let me and the #GCFAM know.
