Groove Cruise Newbie Mistake: Packing Too Much

I admit it – I packed too much on my first Groove Cruise. It was silly of me, and I won’t do it again. Who likes lugging around heavy baggage on and off the ship? Not me.

My logic failed me. I thought to myself, “I’ve been on cruises before, and I’ve been to festivals before, so I should combine my attire for both, and I’ll be good to go.” Nope.

Festival attire is simple – dress comfortable or maybe wear a costume.

On a regular Caribbean cruise, you pack casual clothes for embarkation and disembarkation, formal clothes for dinners, nightwear for the clubs or bars, and swimwear/beachwear for pool and ports.

Don’t prepare for both. Don’t even prepare for just one of those options.

When I shared a shuttle with some of the GC fam already dressed as Despicable Me minions, then arrived at the port only to find people dressed as if they were at Electric Daisy Carnival, I knew I packed too much.

This is what you need, and all you need:

  • Swimwear/Beachwear
  • Flip Flops
  • Costumes
  • Toiletries

Think about it like this: If you’re not wearing a costume and participating in one of the onboard theme days/nights, you’re in swimwear.

That is Groove Cruise attire. Pack light and enjoy yourself!
