GCMIA 2018 Destinations: CocoCay & Nassau, Bahamas
The upcoming Groove Cruise Miami 2018 festival is sailing to not one…but two Caribbean destinations. Aboard the Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas, the GCFAM is scheduled for 2 ports – CocoCay & Nassau, Bahamas.
In this post, I’ll provide some details on each and my perspective on GCMIA 2018’s double destination itinerary.
Just a heads up – prices for the upcoming GCMIA event increase on May 19. Book now for the best selection of cabins, and use discount code GrooveCruiseChris (How do I use this code?) for an easy $50 off/person. Also, check out the other, combinable discounts.
GCMIA 2018 Destination: CocoCay, Bahamas
CocoCay is a private island owned by Royal Caribbean. After some damage from a recent hurricane, it has been nearly completely upgraded and the GCFAM will be among the first to experience the new CocoCay.
Why is the island being owned by Royal Caribbean important?
- The GCFAM will be the only group on the island resulting in a complete takeover.
- Complimentary food will be served on the island just like on the ship (as in, you get an unlimited amount at your convenience). No need to return to the ship to eat.
- You can use your room key to make purchases on the island. Leave your wallet on the ship.
In another first for Groove Cruise, this private island party will feature 2 stages – a main stage and an Abyss underground stage.
Besides the convenience and double stages, CocoCay has lots of activities including Caylana’s Aqua Park, reefs, paddles boats, banana rafts, and shore excursions. You can dance in the sand, relax under the sun, swim in the sea, explore the island, and more.
Note: The Groove Cruise Miami 2018 drink package is valid while on CocoCay.
This stop requires a tender to get from the ship to the island. This is balanced by the fact that complimentary food is served on the island and you can use your room key to make purchases. There’s really no need to return to the ship until the party is over.

GCMIA 2018 Destination: Nassau, Bahamas
Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, marks GCMIA 2018’s second destination for yet another beach party. This is a walk-up port so no tender is need to get off and on the ship. Once onshore, you’re free to do whatever you’d like.
You can explore Nassau, head to the beach party, or my recommendation…both.
One place many people check out is Atlantis. I visited Atlantis and the beach by it several years ago and rented a jet ski.
You can shop, dine, or go on a tour. You are free to travel the island at your leisure. But don’t forget, a massive Groove Cruise beach party will be going down during the stay here, so plan accordingly. You won’t want to miss it. Entry is included for all GCFAM aboard Groove Cruise Miami 2018, but food and drink is extra here.
More details on the beach party will be released as the festival approaches.
